Color correction in Avid Symphony 6

With the the offet from Avid to upgrade to Symphony, form Express pro, media composer, and from Final cut. there might be people who are wondering, what it is that makes Symphony so different. Well I think the biggest is the more powerfull color correction option. So I found a nice video to explain and demonstrait that:

Avid crossgrade, get Symphony for 999$

Avid has a very interesting offer, running from now untiljune the 15 2012. They offer a upgrade price at 999$ from FCP 7 (not the FCPX) and media composer, go XprexDV go Exprexx Pro. My first thought was, hey are they join to stop Media Composer since it is the same price? but it seems that the will continue MC.

There are things to be aware of, even that it is a good offer, before you do it, look into the price of a support contract, it used to be higher for symphony that for Media Composer.
It can be a one time offer to get more editing houses using Symphony, but history shows that upgrade prices were higher for symphony that Media Composer.
When that is said, I would love to upgrade, you get a Media Composer on steroids, with a powerful color correction tools, among other things.

It is only online you can use the offer, and if you upgrade, you can't use your dongle for running Media Composer, but hey why would you do that :-)

Looking for the free parties at NAB 2012

One of my golas off going to Nab is to socialize, and one of the best ways of doing that is at the different parties happening around. And I came across this posting from Bob Zelin

Hi - __

I am pleased to announce the 9th annual 2012 NAB Party at the Hard Rock Hotel
Bar at 8pm on Monday April 16th. This event is sponsored by
Maxx Digital, ATTO Technology and GPL. The policy is the same as last
year - trade your business card for free drinks.

As you may know, this event gets very crowded.

Hope to see you there -
Bob Zelin

Price change in upgrade for MC 5.5 to MC 6

From the 1 of April 2012 the upgrade price from MC 5.5 to MC 6 will change from 299$ to 499 $ and it is only the download version (wich contain the same software as the boxed version). The boxed version has all the time been 499$ and will stay that way.
So if you are considering to upgrade to version6, to get 64 bit, AMA for AVCHD among other things, then it could be an idea to do that before the 1 of April.
